I invite you to join me at the Hacienda Mosaico in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for my 7th year teaching here! Each year I've offered a wonderful Beginners to Intermediate workshop exploring the many styles of Glass Mosaics and this year I'm adding the Creative Adventure of Mosaic Mask Making. I've traveled to many Cities and Pueblos in Mexico and have brought back a variety of Bisque ( fired, but unglazed ) Mexican Masks for your use in this workshop.

Throughout history people have created Masks for a variety of reasons. Masks can be power symbols believed by some to embody 'Magic Energies' which attract the 'Power of the Gods'. Some Masks represent a person's hopes and dreams...others simply function as a decorative piece to please the Artist and the viewer. In this workshop we will be making a Mask of which YOU alone will determine it's purpose. You will have a choice of blank ceramic masks which you will then have the pleasure of decorating. In addition to the masks I will bring a LARGE variety of tiles and other 'goodies' for your use. I encourage you to bring any other items that might have a special meaning for you.

Feathers, crystals, colored wires, buttons, beads, Milagros,...whatever you can think of that will help you to express a feeling or mood. In addition to, or instead of, I offer you the opportunity to create a flat wall piece. No matter which you choose to do, I will teach you how to cut tiles, how to lay them down to effect different moods, what tools you'll need, where to get them, and when to use the different materials available. This is going to be a totally reative experience for you whatever mosaic direction you chose to take

I've been a Glass Artist since the mid 1970's and have been teaching Glass Mosaics in the Northern Italian Tradition for about 12 years now. I have had my Mosaic work shown across the country - have had it exhibited at the SAMA ( Society of American Mosaic Artists) Conference, and I am a winner of The Corning Glass Museum's 'New Glass Review'. I continue with my 'mosaic obsession' and am excited about sharing it again at the spectacular Hacienda Mosaico. This workshop is open to people of all levels of mosaic experience. One of the great things about taking a class here is that the moment you arrive you find yourself with a group of people who have the same interests and excitement as you. That makes it very easy to take a creative vacation on your own or with friends. We have the choice of going downtown P.V. in the evenings or afternoon if you want...we can go to an authentic "Mexican Market" in a nearby town if people choose or stay at the Hacienda and be Creative.
